Photo: In 2017 downtown was home to the Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center (ALAC) on Adams St and 2nd St, pictured. The proposed Latino Cultural Center would fall under the umbrella of the City of Phoenix, Arizona, rather than a non-profit organization.The city of Phoenix recently revamped efforts to create the city’s official Latino Cultural Center, an endeavor in the works since 2001. The Phoenix New Times reported on the Center’s almost two decade-long history, including District 6 Councilman Sal DiCiccio’s criticisms of early feasibility studies.
