Alamo Drafthouse Lubbock will be screening two classic documentaries about the music and vibrant culture of the Texas-Mexico border. “Chulas Fronteras” and “Del Mero Corazon” will be showing at 3 p.m. Sunday at Alamo Lubbock, with both films being screened in 4K restorations. Directed by Les Blank and Chris Strachwitz in 1976, “Chulas Fronteras” introduces the audience to Nortena music that springs from the borderland migrant-farming communities and shows how the music is a fusion of traditional Mexican harmonies and German dance hall rhythms.
