Juan Tejeda, wearing a straw hat in the hot sun with an accordion strapped to his chest, tried to channel the conjunto artists he has long idolized — Santiago Jiménez Sr. and Valerio Longoria among them. He was playing Monday for an audience celebrating the start of the restoration of the historic Lerma’s Nite Club, which was the longest-running live conjunto music venue in South Texas until it closed in 2010.
