Photo: An artist’s rendering shows what the proposed Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture and Industry would look like at what’s now the downtown public library in Riverside.

The campaign raised 90 percent of that total by the end of February, causing the three parties involved in its construction to agree to the 90-day extension allowed in the original contract.  The Cheech, as it’s called, would be built in downtown Riverside around the extensive Chicano art collection owned by Marin, a comic actor and collector.
