Photo: Eduardo Carrillo’s best-known work, “Testament of the Holy Spirit,” was painted in Midtown Sacramento in 1971 and will be hanging in the Crocker Art Museum this summer as a part of the museum’s Carrillo exhibit.
Eduardo Carrillo (1938-1997) was a key figure in the Chicano Art Movement in California, known both for his own paintings and for raising the profile of his fellow artists. Eduardo Carrillo taught at Sacramento State for two years, and created his best-known work “Testament of the Holy Spirit” while he lived on H Street in Midtown Sacramento.
