Justin Favela is a mixed media artist whose large-scale installations and sculptures are inspired by the traditional piñata. His work references pop culture, art history, society and cultural commentary, as well as his identity as a gay Latinx artist living in Las Vegas. He creates his colourful pieces with layer upon layer of colourful paper or adopting the papier-mâché technique, a process that’s used to construct the party piñata.
