Photo: Cheech Marin received an award Thursday, Sept. 6, from comedian George Lopez during a fundraiser for the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture & Industry at the Riverside Convention Center.
Now that they’ve met their fundraising goal, organizers of the “reach for the Cheech” campaign are aiming for a bigger version of the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture and Industry with more programming. That vision also means raising almost $6.4 million more. The Riverside City Council approved a new agreement Tuesday, Oct. 16, to continue fundraising for the museum, which is now expected to open in March 2021.
