New data released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau paints a picture of both diversity and growing inequality in the San Fernando Valley, as the average Valley dweller earned a higher median income than the U.S. average but was more likely to live in poverty than the average American. That gap, however, remains less acute than Los Angeles County as a whole.
