Photo: Judy Baca’s 2002 screenprint “Absolutely Chicana” is included in “Estampas Chicanas,” an exhibit drawn from a gift of prints given to the McNay Art Museum by Harriett and Ricardo Romo.
The moment Lyle Williams, curator of prints and drawings at the McNay Art Museum, saw artist Barbara Carrasco’s portrait of Chicana labor leader Dolores Huerta, he knew he wanted to include it in an exhibit. “I just kept looking at this print and thinking, I really should do something with the women artists,” Williams said.
