The Day of the Dead (or Día de Los Muertos), is undoubtedly one of the better-known and best-preserved Mexican traditions, even protected by the UNESCO through its inclusion into the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. However, the tradition had not always been so ingrained in Mexican culture.
