The steel blue ‘84 Monte Carlo, otherwise known as Junk Yard Dawg, reared up 78 inches from the earth, floating momentarily in the air before crashing back down onto its splayed front tires. “Just a pump,” said its owner, Melucho Garcia of Fort Worth, who controlled its hydraulics with a joystick attached to a cable. “I got a donkey pump, piston pump.” Garcia was one of hundreds who came to Comanche Park in sweltering heat on Sunday to gaze on custom-designed lowriders from across the state at the sixth annual South Texas Super Show.
