St. Louis, Missouri – Luis Alfaro has been inspired by classic Greek drama. His play “Electricidad” put a contemporary spin on Sophocles’ “Electra,” the tale of a woman who seeks revenge for the murder of her father. With “Oedipus El Rey,” a reworking of another Sophocles tragedy, the Chicano playwright and activist similarly reimagined that tragic account of patricide and mother-son incest.
