Photo: Folkloric dancers and music add to the atmosphere at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
That Old Town San Diego would have folkloric dancers and mariachis is hardly surprising. The California State Historic Park brings this old pueblo’s Mexican and Spanish roots to life, after all, from the expansive open plaza that once hosted fiestas and bullfights, to the historic homes and buildings constructed between 1821 and 1872. The empanadas and carne asada at Barra Barra, the saloon just off the plaza. Stop and watch the colorfully-costumed dancers at stages nearby.
