It is an honor when the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., acquires a portrait of you to add to its permanent collection of people who have made a significant impact on the culture, development and history of the United States. When the gallery, a part of the Smithsonian Institution, acquires a second one less than a month later, the honor increases exponentially.
