The sounds of mariachi music and smell of Mexican cuisine enveloped Bessemer Park on Saturday, where hundreds gathered to celebrate Pueblo’s Chicano heritage during the 48th annual Cinco de Mayo Festival. The fiesta, held in Pueblo, Colorado, each year since 1970 to commemorate the unlikely victory of the Mexican Army over French forces in the Battle of Puebla in 1862, celebrates Mexican culture and history and featured a variety of cultural entertainers and speakers throughout the day.
