Amid a controversy over the Española Electric Light Parade, District 2 City Councilor John Ramon Vigil has renewed accusations that Mayor Javier Sanchez is an outsider. Since before he was elected in March, Sanchez has faced questions about his residency. The criticism grew louder as he oversaw the separation of the city government from the Española Fiesta, and the creation of the Community Relations Commission with the goal of creating a summer celebration more welcoming to the Valley’s Native and mestizo cultures.
