Brownsville, Texas – A celebration between two sister cities, from two different countries, going on for generations with costumes that represent tradition and heritage. It all started in 1932 when a group of women organized a Pan American Round Table in Brownsville dedicated to the knowledge and friendship of the Southern Hemisphere. “They fell in love with the fashions of Latin America,” said Eugene Fernandez, Historic Brownsville Museum Manger. The festivities were founded to boost the morale of residents during the Great Depression.
