Phoro: Actor, comedian and artist Cheech Marin and Melissa Richardson Banks, the arts manager for Marin’s Chicano art collection, show a print donated in the portfolio of 26 archival-quality prints of his art collection to the Riverside Art Museum in 2017.

The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture and Industry met the $3 million goal it needed as a step toward opening, a leader of the fundraising effort announced Tuesday, May 29 — the deadline to raise the money. “The city has reviewed all donor commitments and pledges, and they have confirmed that we have successfully met our goal,” said Drew Oberjuerge, executive director of the Riverside Art Museum, in a written statement.
